Varberg in the 19th century

(Varberg, Sweden)

By the 19th century, trade with Tayside was no longer important. One of Varberg's major exports in the latter part of the century was oats to London, principally for horse fodder. The Hamnmagasinet, a granary to store these oats, and built in 1874, still stands at the harbour beside the Societetsparken beneath the fortess of Varberg.
