Of the three Den of Airlies, one was sold as the Ulanaga in 1931 to German East Africa Line and scrapped after catching fire, 1937. Another, bought by Cunard from Barrie in 1915, renamed Valeria in 1918, caught fire and grounded in Mersey. The one built Glasgow, 1895, 3250 gwt, was used as a whale factory, sold to Norway, 1911. Sunk by shelling from German U-Boat Augiust 1917 on voyage from Baltimore to London carrying flour and grain.
